High Noon | 24 x 40 inches | oil on wood panel | 2008 | more paintings >>
This piece was commissioned by Sarah at the UW Hospital. It’s always great working with her. She gives me lots of freedom! Plus she is just super nice!

state of the studio

Happiness is being back in an organized space! The house is done and the painting studio is back upstairs on top of hardwood floors! At last. It’s been a long haul and now I am very pleased and feeling more peaceful than in a long time. Thank you to my in-laws for all their help! Check out the photos.
why i paint
“Once something is sketched, it belongs to me and I lovingly arrange it on my painting surface where it is reborn.”
I create paintings about emotional space, shape, color and pattern. With a painterly style, I carefully build up impasto layers, using wet into wet oil paint, and allowing shards of underpainting to show through. Formally, the pieces are about composition, color harmonies, shape, and texture, yet each piece reveals a sensory connection to the landscape around me, and a dynamic interplay between conscious and subconscious thought.
